· Aliyah was up at her usual time of 7:15. I (Sara) took Aliyah to the breakfast area just like I did yesterday morning. We both ate breakfast and hung out for about an hour until Samuel and Hope woke up.
· A lot of the little milk cartons here that come with the kid’s meals have Mickey Mouse on them. Samuel was disappointed last night at supper when he didn’t have a Mickey Mouse milk. He immediately said “where’s Mickey Mouse?” This morning when he went to breakfast with Daryl he was very excited because he was going to get a “Mickey milk”.
· Getting out the door this morning to Animal Kingdom proved to be a little difficult. Aliyah was fussy and wouldn’t let me get Hope and myself ready for the day while Daryl and Samuel were eating breakfast. When Samuel came back from breakfast he had meltdown after meltdown. Aliyah had a major dirty diaper blow-out (good timing but made for a big mess to clean up just as we were about to leave!). Hope took forever to drink her milk. We finally headed for the bus stop around 9:45.
· As we were getting ready I asked Samuel if he was ready to go and see the animals. He enthusiastically replied “Yes!” I said we were going to see giraffes and tigers and lions . . . and then he interrupted and said “and Winnie the Pooh!” He’s definitely learning what Disney is all about!
· We rode the bus to Animal Kingdom. Hope was a pretty big mess during this time. I think she was still tired and just not ready to face the day yet. I know what that feels like!! She perked up a bit after we got into the park.
· We headed straight for the Safari ride to get fast pass tickets. Good thing we did because the fast pass was already for between 1:45 and 2:45.
· We then took a couple of walks/paths where we could see hippopotamuses, gorillas, monkeys, tigers, birds, bats, snakes, etc. One in Africa and one in Asia.
· This is what Samuel will tell you about the animals that he saw:
o Hippopotamus move his head up and down like “dis” (this)
- Gorilla go hide (saw a gorilla walk away out of site). Play hide and seek Mommy! That gorilla (the one sitting very still) counting!
o Bat was peein’ (so proud that this is what he remembered!)
o Tiger walked around. Didn’t want to come by us. Tiger fell asleep. Samuel said “wake up tiger!”
o Snake take a bath in his, in her, in his . . . in her bathtub! (He’s been big into the figuring out pronouns lately)
o Went on ‘fari truck and saw animals. Cheetah kind of hard to see. Saw BIG giraffe and little giraffe.
· Lunch time was the usual craziness that meal times consist of down here. Samuel was a very sad boy during lunch. Aliyah threw her usual fits – I don’t know what it is about meal time that makes her do this!! We ate at Yak and Yeti’s – a supper yummy Chinese food place. We ate there because we thought Samuel would like the rice . . . he cried every time we gave him a bite. So much for that idea! Daryl and I loved it though! What did Samuel eat for lunch, you ask? He had a couple bites of chicken tenders, some apple slices, and a chocolate brownie. Hope loved the chicken tenders and the rice (very Haitian!).
~Daryl takes over writing~
· After lunch it was safari time! The kids LOVED this ride. Samuel and Hope loved riding in the big truck and bouncing around as we went over bumps. We were able to clearly see rhinos, alligators (or were they crocodiles?), giraffes, gazelles (and other horned animals), an elephant, cheetahs, flamingos, ostriches, and a warthog! Well worth going on!
· After the Safari we decided that the kids (and us) were done and needed some free time. So we came back to the hotel and went down by the beach and pool. The kids played in the sand and then swam in the pool. I, Daryl, was actually able to safely be in the pool with both Samuel and Hope because they are both doing so well with swimming!
· We came back to our room to warm up (it was COLD by the pool….well probably mid 70’s) and get ready for supper. We gave the kids a light snack (except for Hope who fell asleep in the middle of our bed - Samuel even stepped on her hair and she didn't wake up!) and they kept asking to go back to the sand. So we put off supper and went back by the beach to play in the sand. We stayed by the beach for another hour or so and then it was about 7:15 so we figured the restaurant would be empty and a good time to eat.
· We quickly found out that “rush” time at the restaurant goes all the way from 5:30pm till like 10pm. The place was packed! The kids did quite well at supper….well relatively compared to some of the meals here.
· After supper we wandered through the gift shop where we found a little souvenir for the kids. Samuel carried/dragged the bag back to our room. We took a video of him to remember how we moved at "kid pace" all week long. What a fun thing to do!! It's a great lesson in slowing down! We then went back to our room and put the kids to bed. Everyone was exhausted as usual!
