Today . . . · Kids slept all night long again! Didn’t even need to intercept Samuel at all during the night. He did wake up early – around 7:15 along with Aliyah. Daryl and Samuel went for breakfast where Samuel requested a “roller thing”. A cinnamon roll.
· Hope slept until almost 9. Aliyah and I were making quite a bit of noise in the room and she never even stirred. She was one exhausted little girl!
· Apparently Hope and Samuel had a conversation yesterday morning over their bowl of fruit loops that Daryl and I weren’t a part of. When Samuel had fruit loops for breakfast this morning he insisted that all of the purple fruit loops were for Hope and he wouldn’t eat any of them.
· Aliyah hates strollers. It’s true. She is only happy in them if the stroller is moving and she can’t see me. Hmmmm . . . Super good thing we invested in an Ergo baby carrier. At least she loves that! We were going to take the single stroller (along with the double) to the Magic Kingdom today but Aliyah screamed all the way to the elevators so we turned around and dropped the stroller back off in our room. Not worth it.
· Uncle Ben, Aunt Anna, and Uncle Tim got to our hotel a little after 9:30. We headed on a boat for Magic Kingdom.
· Wow. That is all I can say about how many people were at Magic Kingdom today. What a crazy, crazy place.
Hope's favorite was seeing Winnie the Pooh and Tigger. She loves Pooh because her lovey is Pooh. Samuel loves Tigger because Tigger is in his toothbrush. A win-win situation for both of them!
· We did the Monsters Inc Laughing Floor (Hope had a blast at that one!), The Dumbo Ride (Samuel’s request as soon as he saw the “flying elephants”), The Buzz Lightyear Ride (sorry, I don’t know the real name of it and I’m too tired to find out), and lunch before it was time to head back to the hotel for some “down time”. The lines for most rides were close to an hour so with three little kids we decided it just wasn’t worth the wait. Too bad . . . but just how it goes!
· Samuel’s favorite was Dumbo. He had a blast on that ride!
On the way out of the park, we stopped on a bridge and Aunt Anna gave Samuel a penny to throw into the water. (I had given Samuel a quarter at lunch {that i found on the bathroom floor. don't judge} and he promptly put it in his mouth before putting it into his pocket. that's why my kids are going to have super strong immune systems. but that's another story.) He hesitated about throwing the penny in the water and I told him he could keep it if he wanted. He quickly put it in his pocket with his quarter. You could tell he was thinking hard about it. Then he took both the penny and quarter out and said he wanted to throw both of them in the water. In the end, he threw the penny in and pocketed the quarter again. :)
· By the time we got back to our hotel it was close to 2:30. Hope went down for a nap, Aliyah played out on the porch with Daryl, and I took Samuel down to play in the sand. That was his request. I put his swimsuit on before we went downstairs but that made him really worried that we were going swimming and not playing in the sand. I assured him that we were going to go and play in the sand. He is crazy about the beach! Uncle Ben, Uncle Tim, and Aunt Anna all hung out at the beach as well. Samuel even let me go to the bathroom while he stayed back and played on the playground with Uncle Ben!!
· At 4pm Daryl and Aliyah came down. Hope was still sleeping. I quickly jumped in the pool to cool off and then took Aliyah back up to the room to feed her. Daryl, Samuel, Ben, Tim, and Anna all went swimming for a bit before coming in for supper.
· Tim calls our floor “Seventh Heaven” because we are on the Club Level of the hotel . . . meaning you need to use your key in the elevator to get to our floor and they serve breakfast in the morning followed by delicious snacks for pretty much the rest of the day.
· Li is having the hardest time. She’s very clingy and just isn’t sure what in the world is going on! She’s still been good though – it’s a lot for a 7 month old to take in!
· After supper we headed as quickly as we could (which wasn’t very quickly with 3 little kids and then needing to wait a long time for a boat!) back to Magic Kingdom for the parade. On the boat ride to Magic Kingdom, Samuel was eating trail mix and had a blue M&M in his hand when he looked up and saw the monorail going by. He looked up and said “Look, a blue train…..like my M&M!!!” So fun to see him make connections like this! We got there just in time. Samuel and Hope enjoyed the parade. Samuel especially enjoyed the train that Goofy was driving. He was excited to see Mickey Mouse in the parade as well. Hope clapped her hands and enjoyed watching all the crazy lights in the parade. Aliyah screamed the whole boat ride over to Disney and promptly fell asleep when we got there and slept through the parade.
· After the parade we decided we needed to head for It’s A Small World. Mainly because there isn’t ever a wait for that ride (Tim says there is a negative wait time J ) and because it is a classic. You can’t go to Magic Kingdom and not ride on it!! Aliyah LOVED it. She was totally in awe. It was so cute! Samuel and Hope enjoyed it as well. The adults . . . well . . . it was fun to watch the kids so excited!!
· On the way out of the park we watched the fireworks. Daryl plowed a Disney employee over with our double stroller. Well, actually the employee backed right up into the stroller. Pretty funny. We made it to the dock to wait for our boat before the fireworks were over. Good thing because we made it out on the first boat and didn’t have to wait in the crazy long line that formed behind us when the fireworks were done.
· We decided to end the day one of the best ways possible, with ice cream! Sara stayed back in the room with Hope and Aliyah and got them ready for bed while I, Daryl, went down with Samuel, Tim, Ben, and Anna to get ice cream. Samuel was tired but excited about ice cream (he follows after his mother!) and thought it was fun to see it come out of the machine. Just as Samuel was asking for an ice cream of his own he tried to get closer and pulled the “catch tray” (full of melted ice cream) off the machine and it crashed to the floor. Samuel started to scream and the staff came quickly to see if he was okay, he was okay, but devastated by what happened. I was able to calm him down and get him his own ice cream. He decided he wanted to be a “big boy” and sit in a big boy chair and eat on his own and with his first bite his whole bowl fell upside-down between his legs! It prompted another melt-down but fortunately his ice cream was salvageable and he thoroughly enjoyed the rest (with me holding onto his bowl whenever he scooped). Samuel ate all his ice cream and could barely keep his eyes open he was so tired and looked at me and said “go brush teeth.” He said goodbye to Tim, Ben, and Anna and we went back to the room and got his ready for bed. Then we were praying and thanking God for all the fun things we did today and he piped in “and spilled ice cream on floor…..” It definitely was a memorable experience for him!
