February 27, 2011 {Disney Trip}

Today . . .

· I watched Aliyah clap her hands for the very first time

· Samuel and Hope both learned the hard way about why Mommy and Daddy say not to play with doors. Both of them got their fingers pinched within minutes of each other. Hope didn’t learn the first time because she shut her fingers in a drawer later in the day.

· I relaxed up in the room while Aliyah napped. Daryl took Samuel and Hope for a walk to “explore”. They found some horses, some pine cones, and a couple of playgrounds.

· Uncle Tim arrived just before lunch. Hope and Samuel played shy at first but it wasn’t more than 15 minutes and Uncle Tim was their best friend again.

· Aliyah was very clingy and wasn’t happy being put down.

· After lunch we headed for the swimming pool. Hope motored around with her water wings. Samuel learned how to “swim” in the water all by himself (well, with the help of a life jacket). He “peddles” or “runs” under water and goes where he wants to go! It’s soooo cute! Aliyah stuck close to Mommy in the pool and ended up falling asleep after a little bit.

· After the pool we headed to the beach and played in the sand for a long time. There’s a sea wall by the lake and there’s no swimming allowed but the kids didn’t care. They loved picking up the sand and dropping it into the water. We played on the beach (mostly dropping sand into the water) for probably over an hour. Uncle Tim taught Samuel and Hope how to say, “Peace out, dude!” to all of the boats that went by.

· From the beach we moved on to the playground. It was little with just one slide but it was perfect for the kids – especially Samuel! We had to drag him away from the slide after about 30 minutes because it was supper time and all of us adults were getting hungry! He kept saying “couple more times!”

· Samuel saw an airplane and commented, “I went on airplane yesterday!”

· We quickly cleaned up and went down to catch a boat to the Contemporary Disney Resort for supper. The kids were pretty much exhausted at this point but they were still doing great!

· We had a great supper. Samuel ate my dessert first before he even got his cheeseburger. He even two-spooned it. Yup, it was that good! That’s what vacation is all about, right?

· On the dock waiting for our boat to head back to our lodge, we had an encounter with Captain Hook and Smee. Samuel and Hope were both very unimpressed. Tough Disney character to start out with! A Disney employee asked Samuel if he wanted to see Smee. Samuel replied, “No, I gonna go find my room!” because we had told him we were getting on a boat to head back to our room. He ran away from Capt Hook . . . Hope couldn’t run because she was trapped in the stroller! She did blow Capt Hook a kiss!

· On the way from the boat to the room Samuel and Hope were both crazy. It might have been that sugar high from my dessert!! Samuel (once again, refusing to ride in the stroller but wanting to walk all by himself without holding anyone’s hand) was flat out running . . . but couldn’t really run in a straight line! Talk about exhausted! Hope was being goofy and holding onto Uncle Tim’s hand. She was having a blast until she fell and scraped up her knee. Maximum fun reached. Tears off and on from that point until she crashed in her bed.

· Bedtime for all. During this time Uncle Ben and Aunt Anna came. Yay! Both of my brothers here. Just missing our little sister . . . we love you Anna!

· Had a great time hanging out with Ben, Anna, and Tim (and Daryl!) tonight after the kids were asleep. Laughed a lot. Good to be together!!

· Kids slept well last night. Hoping for another good night tonight. I just had to intercept Samuel once when I woke up and he was crawling towards the end of his bed. Not sure what that was about! Scooped him up and laid him back down. Not sure he ever really was awake.
