Swimming

This is the second week in a row that we have gone to KVO on Thursday night for open swim. It's super cheap, the water is super warm, and the pool is super empty!! Can't get much better than that. It's a great way to wear the kids out too! Last week I just went with Samuel because Hope was sick. This week we took the whole family (and my Mom to sit and hold Aliyah!). I had no idea how Hope would do. She wasn't too excited about pools and lakes last summer but lately she has been really loving the bath tub. She had a blast tonight. That girl has no fear. She walked right down the ramp into the water until she could barely touch anymore! She giggled and giggled the whole time. She would then walk back up the ramp and back down again - laughing the whole way. It was too cute! Shortly after that we put the water wings on her to see how she'd do . . . and because she had absolutely no fear of the water - she was making me nervous! She did awesome with the water wings on. She would float all by herself, sit on her butt on the side of the pool and jump in (and go under water) to me, lay on her belly, lay on her back (didn't really like this!), kick her legs, etc! We were so proud of her! She probably swallowed about half of the water in the pool but that's okay!
Samuel is definitely the more cautious and conservative one. He didn't want water wings on . . . or any type of flotation device for that matter. He preferred playing on the ramp where his feet could touch the bottom of the pool. He would jump in but didn't want to get his face wet or go under water. He said he had fun and he always gets excited when we tell him we're going swimming but he is definitely pretty quiet and cautious while we are swimming. He did great with the water wings when we convinced him to put them on but they only lasted a few minutes before he started crying and wanting them off. We'll keep working on it!!
