September 4, 2011

Today was a perfect day for a birthday! My big boy turned 3 today. Yikes! The weather was a little on the cool side (not warm enough for the beach) but the sun was shining and we didn't want to waste the day so we packed a lunch and rode our bikes to the park in downtown Boyne City. We spent over 2 hours at this beautiful playground and the kids (especially Samuel) had a blast!! It was the perfect thing to do to celebrate Samuel because playgrounds are one of his favorite things right now. Can't you tell by the big smiles on his face in all of these pictures?
He played and he played hard!! Grandpa and Grandma came to the playground too and that made it even more fun!!

What is better than a Grandpa who will go down the slide with you?

Mommy joined in the fun too, much to Aliyah's delight!

Aliyah loves slides and is pretty much fearless when it comes to going down them!

Stopping for a lunch break. Samuel was having so much fun that he could hardly sit down and eat his food! He didn't eat much (but he did drink a lot!) before running off to play again. There isn't much that makes me happier than seeing my kids enjoying life and having a good time!

One of my all-time favorite pictures of Aliyah. Now tell me why she wouldn't smile this cute for us when we were doing her 1 year pictures?!

Hope had a great time at the playground too. She's hard to take pictures of because she is always moving!

Like father, Like son!

Right away in the morning I ran to the grocery store to buy a little cake. Even though we are having his birthday party next weekend I still wanted to sing Happy Birthday to him and let him blow out some candles on his actual birthday. He was thrilled with the cake and was so proud to be turning 3 years old! My Mom is decorating the cake for me because Aliyah had no nap to speak of and was crashed out cold in my arms (at 7pm!).

My sweet birthday boy. I love you, Samuel Jack!

Trying to light the candles. It was just a little windy. But we did it!!

Such a proud boy to finally have it be his birthday and his cake and his candles to blow out!

Blow!!!!

He loved the cake, finished his first piece, and asked for seconds! Anything for the birthday boy!

Samuel opened a couple of gifts (but we saved most of them for his party next weekend) - a few books and the "hittin' game" that he loved playing this summer at Huinink/Buiter camping. Aunt Danielle had it and he was always asking to play with it. He was pretty excited to have his very own set!

Happy 3rd Birthday Samuel!! You had such a happy day and we all had a blast celebrating you!! You are a loved 3 year old!
