Last Tuesday night (8 days ago) we had a little incident. Aliyah and Samuel were running opposite ways and collided in our hallway. Aliyah stuck out her hands to protect herself and accidentally pushed Samuel into the corner of a wall. Immediate blood everywhere. Samuel had about a 1" cut on the back of his head. It was deep enough that I knew he should probably be seen in the ER to get it closed up. I called my Mom to go with us so that Daryl could be at home with the girls. Our ER visit was a max of 45 minutes! Samuel ended up with 1 staple in his head. I think it was more traumatic for me than for him! He screamed when the staple went in but he was such a big, brave boy! Today we went to see Dr Dyk to get the staple out. On the way there, Samuel asked me if Dr Dyk was nice and then he asked if he was "really really careful". He was nervous about getting the staple out but he didn't cry at all! Later in the day, Daryl asked Samuel if it hurt at all. Samuel shrugged his shoulders in the most adorable way and said, "Nope. It didn't hurt. He just had a little thing that he squeezed (demonstrating) and it popped right out!" Dr Dyk gave him the staple in a little sterile cup which he proudly showed off for the rest of the day. :)
We went up to Davenport in the afternoon for Anna's soccer game. CU lost (Davenport is undefeated in the conference) and Anna re-injured her hamstring. Double bummer. The kids had a great time though and the weather was beautiful (mid 70s!). From the game we drove straight back to Kalamazoo and to our Church for Trunk or Treat. The kids had a great time! Hope and Samuel did really well and didn't need much help. Aliyah wasn't so sure at first but she quickly got the hang of it. She preferred that people hand her the candy so that she could put it in her bag.
Samuel was a soccer player again this year.
Hope was Cinderella. She loved her costume!
And my sweet Aliyah was a cute little ladybug.
Miss Deb - one of Samuel's favorite people. She was a soccer player too!
Picking out some good candy!
So cute :)
A ladybug with an attitude!
Pastor Jason helping Samuel spin the basketball on his finger.
Hope's turn!
I took Hope's Cinderella costume off before she got into her carseat because it was so long and difficult to buckle her in with it on. She got really sad and said, "But now I'm not beautiful anymore." It broke my heart! I reassured her that she is always beautiful!
And the World Series started tonight! I had high hopes with Verlander on the mound, but things did not go our way. Tigers are down 0 games to 1 against the Giants. Hoping for better games to come!
