Labor Day Weekend {Day 1}

Labor Day Weekend 2012: Straits State Park in St Ignace, Michigan

 We had a rough drive up to the campground (kids fighting and not able to keep their hands off of each other!) so this was a welcome site after we set up!  Although, as we were crossing the bridge, Hope kept saying "This is craaaaazy!!  This is freakin' me out!!!"  That was funny!

The only beach at the campground was a rocky beach.  There were fun things about it for the kids but it had its disadvantages too.  Not really a beach for swimming but we still had a lot of fun and spent a lot of time down there!

 The view from the beach was beautiful with the Mackinac Bridge (aka Mighty Mac!) in the background.

 Samuel and Daryl going for a swim (Samuel was standing on a big rock!)

That evening, we rode our bikes into town to Molly Moo's for ice cream.  It's so funny how the kids pick their ice cream by the color, not the flavor!  Samuel picked blue moon, Aliyah picked "pinkalicious" (strawberry), and Hope picked purple (wild cherry).  The kids had a blast!!  Samuel did a great job pedaling on his trail-a-bike.  When we passed the marina he said, "Mom, I think there's like a hundred boats in there!"

Ignore my weird eyes in this picture.  I was making sure we weren't going to hit anything!  And no, we didn't coordinate our outfits.  I promise. ;)

After we put the kids to bed that night, Aliyah was crying in the tent because she wanted me to go back in and snuggle with her.  We heard Samuel ask her, "Aliyah, are you okay?"  Aliyah replied, clear as day with no hint of tears in her voice, "No. I crying for Mommy."  And immediately began her "crying" again and saying, "Mommy!  Mommy!"  What a little stinker!
